Premier League: Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts of the 20 clubs (September 2021)

The 20 clubs involved in the 2021-22 Premier League season have more than 590 million fans on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, according to data collected by News Tank Football on 01/09/2021. This total enables the Premier League to maintain its position as the most popular Top 5 European league, all three social networks combined, ahead of LaLiga Santander, with an average of 29.5 million fans per club.

Manchester United FC are the most popular English club with over 147 million fans, followed by Chelsea FC, with more than 96 million and Liverpool FC, with nearly 88 million.

Thanks to the return of Portuguese player Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United was the club that posted the best growth in absolute value during the month of August 2021 with 5.9 million additional fans, including 76% on Instagram alone (+4.5 millions). Only Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 Uber Eats, +15.3 million fans, including 12.2 million followers on Instagram), driven by the arrival of Argentinian Lionel Messi, performed better among the clubs playing in the European Top 5, over the period.
