Matchday 2 of the 2021-22 Serie A TIM season drew an average of 13,333 spectators per game, from Friday 27 to Sunday 29/08/2021. The average fill rate was just 33.3%.

These unusually low numbers for the Italian championship can be explained by the restrictions in force in all Italian stadiums due to the health crisis resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic. The authorities, through a decree on 22/07/2021, have in fact fixed the capacity of stadiums at 50%, with a checkerboard layout (one seat occupied, one seat empty).

AC Milan - Cagliari Calcio (4-1), on Sunday 29/08/2021 (kick-off at 20:45 CET), was the match with the best attendance on Matchday 2 with 31,946 spectators at the San Siro (Milan, ITA), with a capacity of 78,328.

Serie A clubs posted an average of 27,001 spectators per game on Matchday 2 of the 2019-20 season (nearly all of the 2020-21 season took place behind closed doors due to Covid-19), for a fill rate of 71%.
