LaLiga Santander: Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts of the 20 clubs (September 2021)

The 20 clubs in the 2021-22 LaLiga Santander season have 539 million fans on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/09/2021. This total makes the Spanish first division the second most popular European Top 5 league on the three social networks combined, behind the Premier League (590 million fans), with an average of 27.8 million fans per club.

Real Madrid CF are the most popular Spanish club with over 253 million fans, while FC Barcelona, second, with a total of nearly 242 million, are ahead of Club Atlético de Madrid in third place with 31 million.

Real Madrid posted the best growth in absolute value on Twitter and especially Instagram (+1.86 million additional followers) during the month of August 2021. Meanwhile, Barça are the top Spanish club on Twitter after gaining 32,919 additional followers.

In relative terms, two promoted clubs posted the best percentage growth among the clubs of the Spanish championship over the period: Rayo Vallecano de Madrid on Facebook (+12.3%), and RCD Mallorca on Instagram (+9.3%) and Twitter (+3.3%).
