Atlético de Madrid: Betway, global sports betting partner (2021-2023) excluding in Spain and Asia

Betway, a sports betting operator based in Guernsey and Malta, has become a regional partner of Club Atlético de Madrid (LaLiga Santander) for two seasons (2021-2023), announced the bookmaker on 07/09/2021.

Betway thus becomes Atlético Madrid's "global sports betting partner", excluding for the Spanish and Asian markets. The betting operator will benefit from a display on signage at the Wanda Metropolitano during the club's international matches (notably in the Champions League). For Atlético Madrid's domestic league matches, Betway will be displayed on the stadium's signage for foreign markets using geolocated overlay advertising technology.

As of 2021-22, Spanish sports clubs are prohibited from promoting gambling operators (see below). AYX, a Chinese sports betting operator and entertainment platform, has been a regional partner of the 2020-21 Spanish champions in Asia since 05/02/2021. In 2020-21, Atlético Madrid was in partnership with the bookmaker Versus for the Spanish market.
