FIFA: 7,748 international transfers brought in €3.14bn (-7.5%) in the 2021 summer transfer window

Men's professional football clubs spent $3.72bn (€3.14bn as of 08/09/2021) on international transfer fees during the 2021 summer transfer window (01/06 to 01/09/2021), down 7.5% versus 2020 ($4.02bn/€3.35bn), according to FIFA in a short report on the latest transfer window published on 07/09/2021.

7,748 international transfers - of which 6,549 (84.5%) involved free agents (no compensation to be paid) - took place over the period, a stable figure compared to 2020 (7,771 transfers). English clubs had both the highest number of player movements (380 incoming and 494 outgoing transfers) and the highest amount of money spent on players ($1.15bn/€971m).

In women's football, the number of international transfers rose by 8.7% with 576 deals recorded, 31 of which resulted in a payment from the host club (for a total of $1.24m / €1.05m).
