Up to 9.2 million viewers (peak audience at the moment of the winning match point) followed the victory of British tennis player Emma Raducanu (18) versus Leylah Fernandez (19) of Canada in the final of the 2021 US Open, on British public TV channel Channel 4, on Saturday 11/09/2021 (match started at 16:00 US East Coast Time, 21:00 in the UK, 10:00 CET).

Emma Raducanu, ranked 150th in the WTA rankings prior to the start of the tournament and not dropping a set (23rd after winning the title), is the first tennis player (female or male) ever to win a Grand Slam tournament coming out of qualifying. She is also the first British player to win a Grand Slam since Virginia Wade at Wimbledon in 1977.

Channel 4 sub-licensed the rights to broadcast the final from US e-commerce group Amazon on the day of the match. The day before, the British broadcasting group BBC had acquired the rights to the highlights of the match. Amazon holds the UK broadcast rights to the US Open for an estimated $40m (€34m) over the 2018-2022 cycle (five editions), or $8m per year (€6.8m).
