World Cup: "A World Cup every two years is highly unfeasible" (CONMEBOL)

"A World Cup every two years could distort the most important football competition on the planet, lowering its quality and undermining its exclusive character and its current demanding standards. Although CONMEBOL once supported the project in question, technical analyses have shown that it is highly unfeasible," said the South American Football Confederation on 09/10/2021.

"The big idea, initially, is to group the qualifying matches into two international windows, in October and March, and then at the end of the season to offer a World Cup and Confederation championships (the Euro for UEFA, AFCON in Africa, the Copa America in South America etc.) every two years," explained Arsène Wenger (FRA), chief of global football development at FIFA, to the French sports daily L'Équipe, on 03/09/2021 (FIFA document available to download).
