2021-22 LaLiga Santander: attendance for Matchday 4 (an average 13,269 spectators per game)

Matchday 4 of the 2021-22 LaLiga Santander season drew an average of 13,269 spectators per game, from Saturday 11 to Monday 13/09/2021. The average fill rate was just 38.2%. These figures only concern eight matches since Sevilla FC - FC Barcelona and Villarreal CF - Deportivo Alavés were postponed at the request of the clubs concerned due to the late return of their South American players due to the extension of the international period in the CONMEBOL zone (each national team played three matches instead of the two initially planned).

These unusually low figures for the Spanish championship can be explained by the limited capacities imposed by public authorities since the start of the season, in all Spanish stadiums, due to Covid-19.

While the maximum capacity of 40% established at the national level in early August 2021 has been increased to 60% since September, some local authorities have decided to lower this limit: 40% in Catalonia (versus 30% in August) and 30% in the Basque Country (versus 20% previously).
