Matchday 4 of the 2021-22 Premier League season drew an average of 36,393 spectators per game, from Saturday 11 to Monday 13/09/2021. The average stadium fill rate was 95.4%. As during the first 3 matchdays, English stadiums were full, with public authorities having decided not to impose any capacity restrictions for the resumption of the English league.

Manchester United FC - Newcastle United FC (4-1), on Saturday 11/09/2021 (kick-off at 15:00 local time, 16:00 CET), was the game that posted the best attendance on Matchday 4 with 72,732 spectators at Old Trafford (74,879 capacity), for a fill rate of 97.1%.

The average attendance of the Premier League reached 39,105 spectators per game after four matchdays, for an average fill rate of 95.5%.

  • The 20 Premier League clubs posted an average of 39,350 spectators per match in 2019-20 (over 29 matchdays) for a fill rate of nearly 98%.
    • The last nine matchdays of the season were played behind closed doors when the league resumed in June 2020.
  • The 2020-21 Premier League season took place almost exclusively behind closed doors.
