FIFA lifts suspension of Nigeria Football Federation

FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) announced on 18/07/2014 that it had lifted its suspension of the NFF (Nigeria Football Federation). The suspension had been put in place due to government interference in the federation.

"FIFA has noted that the court proceedings and order preventing the president of the NFF, the NFF executive committee members and the NFF congress from running the affairs of Nigerian football -- which prompted the suspension -- have been withdrawn," said the international federation on 18/07/2014.

The NFF was suspended -- and the suspension took effect immediately -- by FIFA's Emergency Committee on 09/07/2014. The international federation demanded that the Nigerian government reinstate the NFF in its roles after a regional court ordered the dissolution of the Nigerian federation for "mismanagement" on 03/07/2014.
