Crypto-assets: Sorare (NFT) raises $680m (€580.2m), a record second round of financing in Europe

Sorare, a French startup that offers NFTs bearing the images of football players, has raised $680m (€580.2m), according to the Paris-based company on 21/09/2021. "Sorare has completed a record-breaking Series B financing to create the next sports entertainment giant leveraging NFTs," said Sorare, which raised $4m (€3.5m to date) in 2020 and €500,000 in 2019.

This fundraising was led by Softbank (telecommunications, JPN) with a dozen investors and business angels including football players (Gerard Piqué, Rio Ferdinand, Antoine Griezmann and César Azpilicueta). "The investment, Europe's biggest ever Series B, gives Sorare a new valuation of $4.3bn (€3.6bn), making it the most valued French Tech unicorn to date," explained the startup created in 2018.

Sorare has already signed licensing agreements with over 160 football clubs and signed its first sponsorship agreement with LaLiga on 09/09/2021.
