United Kingdom: DAZN in advanced talks to buy BT Sport (press)

The UK-based OTT sports platform DAZN is in advanced discussions to buy the British pay-TV operator BT Sport, according to the British business daily newspaper Financial Times on 21/09/2021.

The British telecoms operator BT had confirmed that it was studying the possibility of selling all or part of its subsidiary BT Sport, on 29/04/2021. DAZN had been mentioned by the British press among the potential candidates along with the American e-commerce group Amazon, the media and entertainment conglomerate The Walt Disney Company and private equity firms.

Kevin Mayer, chairman of DAZN, said on 15/09/2021 that he was "possibly" interested in BT Sport, that he "would love to have the Premier League" and that BT Sport was a "great company".
