UEFA: executive committee approves doubling of prize money (€16m) for the Women's Euro 2022

UEFA's executive committee, which met in Chişinău (Moldova) on 22/09/2021, has "approved a substantial increase in the amount distributed to the participating teams, along with a new distribution model, ahead of the start of the highly anticipated Women's European Championship final tournament in England in summer 2022," announced the body on 23/09/2021.

"The 16 qualified teams will share a total of €16m, double the amount of the total prize money of €8m distributed at UEFA Women's Euro 2017 in the Netherlands. The financial distribution will include increased guaranteed amounts and performance-based bonuses for the group stage," added the European body, which plans to release full details of its financial distribution scheme in next few days.

Furthermore, UEFA will introduce a "club benefits programme", aimed at rewarding European clubs that release players for the Women's Euro. A total €4.5m will be shared between clubs "for their contribution to the success of the event."
