UC Sampdoria: special shirts in support of the UNHCR worn during match vs SSC Napoli (23/09/2021)

The players of UC Sampdoria (Serie A TIM) wore shirts bearing the crest of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in order to "raise funds for UNHCR's humanitarian operations in favour of the Afghan people", during the match versus SSC Napoli (Matchday 5 of the Serie A TIM), on Thursday 23/09/2021 (kick-off at 18:30 CET). The shirts worn during the match will be auctioned off and the proceeds will be donated to the UNHCR.

This initiative follows a similar operation implemented by AS Roma (Serie A TIM) during their match versus US Sassuolo Calcio (2-1, Matchday 3), on Sunday 12/09/2021. In addition to auctioning a special shirt for the benefit of the UNHCR, the Roman club also announced "the distribution of sporting materials from Euro 2020, donated to Roma Cares via the UEFA Foundation, among Afghan refugees currently being housed in centres throughout Italy" on 10/09/2021. Meanwhile, UC Sampdoria are inviting their fans to make online donations to the UNHCR.
