Serie A TV rights: "DAZN weren't prepared. They still have to invest" (E. Preziosi, ex-Genoa CFC)

"At DAZN they were not prepared to provide a service to viewers. They still have to invest. It's a shame because the people who pay are asking questions. I hope they find a solution to give viewers a decent signal as soon as possible. I'm in favour of Sky, a collaboration would have been appropriate," said Enrico Preziosi, former president of Genoa CFC, after finalising the sale of the Serie A TIM club to the US investment firm 777 Partners (see related news), on 24/09/2021.

OTT platform DAZN, which acquired the rights to broadcast all Serie A TIM matches (including 7 out of 10 exclusively) over the 2021-2024 cycle, for €840m per season, has encountered several technical problems when broadcasting matches since the start of the 2021-22 season (see below). DAZN broadcast three exclusive Serie A TIM games per matchday over the 2018-2021 cycle, for €193m per season. Sky Italia is broadcasting three matches on a non-exclusive basis over the 2021-2024 cycle and broadcast seven games per matchday on an exclusive basis over the 2018-2021 cycle.
