SD Eibar, the 2013-14 champion of the Liga Adelante (second Spanish division), were officially promoted for the first time to Liga BBVA on 15/07/2014 for the 2014-15 season after increasing their dedicated capital by €1.7m to €2,146,525, the minimum required for an SAD (sociedad anonima deportiva, the Spanish equivalent to a public limited company).

With a dedicated capital of €422,253 in 2013-14, the Basque club launched on 09/04/2014 a website (www.defiendealeibar.com) where the club's shares could be bought for €50 each. The goal was to increase the club's dedicated capital by €1,724,272 and thus reach the minimum required (€2,146,525). The 34,486 shares put on sale were all sold. The club's aim was even exceeded: the club had gained €1,980,000 as of 23/07/2014.

If the club had not reached this objective before 06/08/2014, the deadline set by the CSD (Spanish Sports Council), not only would it had not been promoted to Liga BBVA, but it would have been relegated to Segunda Division B (the Spanish third division).
