Stade Brestois 29: local authorities to participate in the financing of the new stadium

"The finances of the community will of course be solicited," said François Cuillandre, president of Brest Métropole and mayor of Brest (Finistère, FRA), about the project for a new stadium for Stade Brestois 29 (Ligue 1 Uber Eats), to the French radio station France Bleu Breizh Izel on 28/09/2021.

The Breton club had presented a project for a new stadium with an evolving capacity of 13 to 15,000 seats at an estimated cost of between €70-80m financed entirely by private funds on 16/03/2018. The situation has now changed with regard to the financing, as well as with the infrastructures envisaged, since the leisure areas, the hotel and the restaurant, which were present in the initial project, are no longer included.

"It is no longer possible to imagine, in the short or long term, a future for the club at the Stade Francis-Le Blé (where Stade Brestois has played its home matches since it was founded in 1950). Currently, there is not a single parameter that meets the requirements of reception, comfort, safety and accessibility," said Stade Brestois 29 on 10/01/2020.
