FC Inter Milan: revenues of €364.7m (-2%) and a net loss of €245.6m in 2020-21

"Amidst the extraordinary circumstances created by the Covid-19 pandemic, the board of directors of FC Inter Milan (Serie A TIM) has approved the consolidated financial statements as at 30/06/2021, with revenues of €364.7m and losses of €245.6m," announced the Italian club on 30/09/2021. While Inter's revenues were stable (-2%) compared to 2019-20 (€372.4m), the net deficit more than doubled in 2020-21 (-€102.4m as of 30/06/2020).

The majority of these losses was "due to the complete lack of matchday income (€27.6m in 2019-20 + €16.1m in revenue from season tickets) following the closure of stadiums (compared to 2020, when stadiums closed in early March), the reduction in sponsorship contracts as a result of the club being unable to provide benefits and the settlement of sporting contracts," explained FC Inter Milan, Italian champions in 2020-21 despite a financial situation that forced them to take out a €275m loan from the investment fund Oaktree Capital Management in May 2021 (see further reading).
