Death of Bernard Tapie: "A true sports enthusiast and an extraordinary competitor" (FFF)

"France has learned of the death of Bernard Tapie, following a long illness that he had been fighting since 2017. Bernard Tapie fought his illness with great courage and dignity until his last days. He was a unique personality, a true sports enthusiast and an extraordinary competitor in his many professional lives," said the French Football Federation, of the former president of Olympique de Marseille (Ligue 1 Uber Eats), who died at the age of 78 on Sunday, 03/10/2021.

"Under his presidency, Olympique de Marseille won four consecutive French league titles (1989, 1990, 1991 and 1992), one Coupe de France (1989) and most notably the 1992-93 Champions League, the first (and only to date) won by a French club," said the FFF.
