FC Barcelona: revenues of €631m (-26.2%) and a net loss of €481m in 2020-21

FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) has posted revenues of €631m for the 2020-21 financial year (from 01/07/2020 to 30/06/2021), down 26.2% compared to 2019-20 (€855m), according to the club on 01/10/2021. Barça's annual accounts still need to be approved at the next ordinary general assembly of delegate members, scheduled on 17/10/2021.

"The 2020-21 financial year closed with operating revenue (not communicated in detail), well below the €828m (-23.8%) set in the budget, which also forecast a profit after tax of €1m. Ultimately, the outcome was a loss of €481m after tax, derived from the drop in income and the amount of expenditure," said the Catalan club.

"Expenditure increased by 19% on the previous season, rising from €955m to €1.136bn, the highest ever in the club's history. This led to an increase in the number of fiscal, legal, labour, and defaulting provisions, and following the Due Diligence recommendations (study of the club's management during the Josep Maria Bartomeu era, carried out by the team of the new president Joan Laporta, elected on 07/03/2021).
