Formula E: a cumulative audience of 316 million viewers (+32%) in 2021, +156% in the UK

The 2021 season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship (15 races) posted a cumulative audience of 316 million viewers, up 32% versus the previous season, announced Formula E on 04/10/2021.

This "record" result was "driven by new distribution agreements with free-to-air (FTA) channels in key markets, which also lifted Season 7's live audience above pre-pandemic levels underscoring the organic growth in fan interest in electric open wheel racing. This was achieved despite a shorter calendar and a lack of races in Asia."

Average live viewing time increased by 26% compared to the 2019-20 season thanks to "improved broadcast content and alignment on start times with broadcasters to optimise live audience," added the body, which posted live audiences in the UK up 156% versus the previous season (see below).
