Qatar 2022: Joseph Blatter discusses World Cup preparation and social change with emir

"It was great to see [the emir's] and Qatar’s commitment to use the 2022 World Cup to achieve positive social change and to promote the host country and region," said Joseph Blatter, the president of FIFA (Federation International de Football Association) after his one-hour meeting with the emir Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, in Doha (QAT) on 23/07/2014.

"Qatar takes its responsibility as host seriously. We also discussed the importance of further developing football in the region," Blatter said.

During this meeting, which was also attended by Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, the personal representative of the emir of Qatar, and Jérôme Valcke, FIFA secretary general, "the Emir reviewed existing relations of cooperation between the State of Qatar and football's world governing body and looked at ways of enhancing them further," according to FIFA.
