Germany/DFL: Sorare (NFTs), official partner of the Bundesliga and the 2.Bundesliga (2021-2023)

Sorare, a French startup that offers NFTs (digital cards) featuring football players, has become an official partner of the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga for "at least two seasons (2021-2023)," announced the Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH on 06/10/2021. The agreement was negotiated by Bundesliga International, the DFL's marketing and media rights arm.

"The official partnership centres on NFTs in the form of digital player items that can be played in the integrated fantasy football game and also collected, exchanged and traded on the Sorare platform. Next year, Sorare will also publish NFT-based videos from the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2, known as 'Moments', which can likewise be collected and played in the fantasy football game," said the German body.

The deal represents Sorare's second sponsorship contract in football. After signing more than 170 licensing agreements between 2018 and 2021, the French startup, which raised €580.2m on 21/09/2021, a record in European sportstech, signed its first partnership with LaLiga for LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank on 09/09/2021.
