FFF: 2020-21 Nations League, an eighth trophy for the French national team in less than 40 years

The 1998 and 2018 World Cups, Euro 1984 and Euro 2000, the 2001 and 2003 Confederations Cups, the 1985 Intercontinental Cup and the 2021 Nations League: the French football team has now won eight international trophies in 37 and a half years, which represents more than one trophy every five years since the European Championship won by Michel Platini and his teammates at home in June 1984.

104 days after their disappointing elimination in the Round of 16 of Euro 2020, versus Switzerland (3-3, 4-5 on penalties, in Bucharest, ROU, on 28/06/2021), France dominated Spain in the final of the second edition of the Nations League (2-1, in Milan, ITA) on 10/10/2021, after having beaten Belgium three days earlier in the semi-final (3-2, in Turin, ITA, on 07/10/2021).

Didier Deschamps, who won 103 caps between 1989 and 2000 and has been coach of the French national team since 2012, has been involved in winning half of the FFF's international trophies: the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 as captain of Les Bleus, then the 2018 World Cup and 2021 Nations League as coach.
