CIES: Udinese Calcio, European Top 5 club where expatriate players get the most game time in 2021-22

Udinese Calcio (Serie A TIM) is the club with the highest percentage of minutes played by expatriate players since the start of the 2021-22 season in the European Top 5 leagues, as of 30/09/2021, according to the CIES Football Observatory's "Weekly Post" published on 11/10/2021.

With 88% of playing time by expatriate players, Udinese Calcio is ahead of Premier League club, Chelsea FC (86.8% of minutes played) and another Italian club, Atalanta BC (86.3%). Of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats clubs, only LOSC Lille (5^th, 81.9%) and Paris Saint-Germain (14^th, 75.2%) are among the top 20 European clubs that field the most expatriate players, along with seven Serie A TIM clubs, six Premier League clubs, three LaLiga Santander clubs and two Bundesliga clubs.

Conversely, the 20 clubs where expatriate players receive the least playing time (less than 35%) include nine clubs from the French league, seven Spanish top flight clubs, three German clubs and just one English club. Notably, Athletic Club Bilbao have not fielded any foreign players during their first seven matches of the 2021-22 season.
