Stade Vélodrome: "An agreement will probably be reached by the end of the week" (Jean-Claude Gaudin)

"I believe that the negotiations carried out by finance deputy Roland Blum with the leaders of Olympique de Marseille (Ligue 1), are moving in the right direction. An agreement will probably be reached by the end of the week. I will finalise it with Margarita Louis-Dreyfus and Vincent Labrune," said Jean-Claude Gaudin, mayor of Marseille, to the newspaper La Provence, on 28/07/2014.

"The regional chamber of accounts, the land office and the municipal council -- all three bodies have held that €8m is a reasonable price. It is not the most expensive in the world. Of course, it is a fair price. But, given Olympique de Marseille's demands, there can be, as in Lille with the LOSC (Ligue 1), a fixed portion and a percentage that is spread out over time. This is what we are talking about," Gaudin said.

On 25/07/2014, Olympique de Marseille rejected the proposal for the Stade Vélodrome (capacity 67,000) that was put forward by the city of Marseille, namely, "a fixed portion of €5m, plus 20% of ticket sales after the first €17.5m, and the application of the entertainment tax at 8%".
