DAZN: "We won't just rely on subscription revenues, there's betting and NFTs" (Kevin Mayer)

"We won't just rely on subscription revenues, we also want to generate revenues from sports betting and NFTs," said Kevin Mayer, chairman of DAZN, when asked about his OTT platform's unprofitable business model at the Financial Times Business of Sport Summit on 14/10/2021.

Kevin Mayer declined to comment on DAZN's interest in BT Sport (see below) but said that the Premier League, Champions League and Formula One are the rights "that matter most to him. In Europe, what matters most in most territories is football rights, but motorsports is also very popular. We are looking for high profile rights that involve the local audience."

"You will find us competing for these rights in most cases and in most major markets, you will see us operating at a high level in the major European markets. We have Formula One in Spain and Moto GP in different markets. I think we will continue to chase them," continued the former CEO of the social network TikTok.
