"The FIGC has given us the choice to organise a championship with 20 or 18 teams. Our clubs are discussing it: those who play in the European Cups clearly want fewer matches, those who are afraid of relegation and do not play in Europe want to stay at 20. For the moment, it seems to me that the balance is in favour of keeping 20 teams. The next meetings will tell us what is the best direction to take," said Paolo Dal Pino, president of the Lega Serie A, on RadioRai, 18/10/2021.

"It is difficult to understand how a state cannot care about a sector that has paid more than €14bn in contributions over the last 13 years. We and the FIGC have asked for zero cost measures to support our clubs who have suffered €1.2bn in losses due to the pandemic and the closure of stadiums for over a year. I hope that we will soon be able to remedy what we call 'an oversight', because otherwise it would not be acceptable," said Paolo Dal Pino to the Italian government.
