Brazil 2014: BBC gets record internet audience of 78.9m unique visitors

The website of BBC Sport had a record audience of 78.9m unique visitors (50.8m from the UK and 28.1m from abroad) during the month of June 2014, the BBC, a British public broadcaster, announced on 24/08/07. The previous monthly record was set in August 2012 during the Olympic Games in London (27/07 to 12/08/2012) with 73.6m unique visitors.

The mobile version of BBC Sport has also had a new record for weekly visits, with 8.1m unique visitors from Great Britain during the first full week of the Brazilian World Cup (16 to 22/06/2014) .

A new record for daily visits was established during the Germany-Brazil semi-final (1-7 in Belo Horizonte, on 08/07/2014) with 3.4m unique visitors using various devices (computers, tablets, mobile phones and connected TVs). In all, BBC Sport's videos of the 2014 World Cup got 15.9m views.
