Match Calendar: FIFA schedules a global summit to discuss the future of football on 20/12/2021

The 211 national member associations will meet by videoconference on Monday 20/12/2021 "to discuss the future of football after receiving a detailed update on the ongoing consultation process on the topic," announced FIFA at the end of its 17^th Council meeting (also by videoconference) on 20/10/2021. No vote will be taken at the end of this global summit.

"We will continue with the objective of reaching a consensus with solutions that work for everyone's benefit," said Gianni Infantino (ITA-SUI), president of FIFA, who is aware that UEFA, the main European leagues and the major European clubs are opposed to FIFA's international calendar project.

"We need to think about how we develop the football of the future and to ensure our sport is meaningful, exciting and robust for future generations across the entire world. This is not necessarily the case today," said the FIFA president.
