Premier League: temporary ban on entering into partnerships with "related parties"

18 out of 20 Premier League clubs are voting on a temporary (one-month) rule change to ban "related party transactions", i.e. with companies with which the club owners are associated, according to multiple British sources, confirming reports from the British newspaper, The Guardian, on 18/10/2021.

Newcastle United FC voted against and Manchester City FC abstained from the vote during the Premier League's emergency meeting on 18/10/2021.

This followed another emergency meeting held the week before in order to discuss the takeover of Newcastle United FC. An investment group led by the Public Investment Fund (PIF, Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund) completed the acquisition of 100% of Newcastle United FC on 07/10/2021, a deal valued at around £300m (€353m).
