The video game editor EA Sports acquired the rights for the Serie A out of a partnership with Lega Serie A (Italian professional league that manages the first Italian division) on 24/07/2014. The company, based in Vancouver (Canada), will have exclusive use of the first Italian division for its upcoming video game FIFA 15.

The 20 Serie A teams, already in the game for several years, will now appear with their official logos, sponsors and shirts for the 2014-15 season. In the 2014 edition, EA Sports only had licenses for the major teams, such as Juventus Turin, Inter Milan and Milan AC. The Serie A license will also enable EA Sports to use the images of the different Italian trophies and of "Ordem", the official ball of the season, which the American sports brand Nike unveiled on 17/07/2014.

The cost of the Serie A license is estimated at €1.5m to €2m per year, compared to €1.2m to €1.5m for Ligue 1.

EA Sports has a license from FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) and of the major football leagues in the world, such as Premier League, Liga BBVA, Bundesliga, Ligue 1…
