European Super League: Italy joins 15 countries that have already their expressed support for UEFA

Italy is now supporting UEFA in its fight against the European Super League project presented by 12 major European clubs on 18/04/2021 (see below), according to Italian media on 23/10/2021.

Italy had not sent the European Court of Justice any official document indicating its position on the European Super League project, according to Italian media on 22/10/21, while 15 countries (France, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland, Sweden, Hungary, Latvia, Malta, Denmark, Romania, Slovakia, Ireland and Iceland) had already taken a position supporting UEFA.

"A surprising situation that could have very serious side effects, starting with the lack of UEFA's support for the Italian bid (not yet officially declared) for the organisation of Euro 2028 (to be presented before 23/03/2022)," said the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport on 22/10/2021.
