2021-22 Bundesliga: attendance for Matchday 9 (29,562 spectators on average per game)

Matchday 9 of the 2021-22 Bundesliga season drew an average of 29,562 spectators per match, from Friday 22 to Sunday 24/10/2021. The average fill rate was 62.5%.

These low figures, modest for the German championship, can be explained by the limited capacities imposed by the public authorities in all German regions since the start of the season due to the health crisis relating to the Covid-19 pandemic. The average attendance since Matchday 8, has however been rising sharply as a result of a sharp increase in the permitted capacities at German stadiums.

For example, the Allianz Arena (Munich, GER) welcomed 60,000 spectators for FC Bayern Munich - TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (4-0) on Saturday 23/10/2021 (kick-off at 15:30 CET), the best attendance on Matchday 9. For Bayern's first four home games in the league, the maximum capacity had not exceeded 25,000 spectators.

The average attendance in the Bundesliga, which is expected to increase significantly in the coming weeks, is 20,079 per game after nine matchdays, for an average fill rate of 46.4%.
