FFF: French national team surpasses 3m fans on Facebook (+1m since May 2014)

The official Facebook page of the French national team has surpassed the 3m fans, the FFF (the French football federation) announced on 29/07/2014.

"We would have never imagined that our Facebook page could surpass so quickly the 3m fans. It can be explained by the positive image conveyed by the French national team during the 2014 World Cup. Our posts on social networks have also been well received by the users. 65% of the comments were positive and 30% neutral," said François Vasseur, head of brand promotion for the FFF, to News Tank, on 30/07/2014.

With 1m new fans since 05/05/2014, the Facebook page of the federation became the second most followed French sports page behind Paris Saint-Germain's (12.2m fans) and ahead of Olympique de Marseille's (3.5m fans), on 29/07/2014. The messages posted on Facebook by the federation during the World Cup in Brazil (from 12/06 to 13/07/2014) received 5m "likes", 300,000 comments and were seen on average by 774,000 users.
