CIES: Real Madrid and Barça have trained the most European Top 5 players in 2021-22, ahead of OL

Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) are the two clubs that have trained the most active players among the 98 clubs of the European Top 5 (Premier League, LaLiga Santander, Bundesliga, Serie A TIM and Ligue 1 Uber Eats) in 2021-22, according to the CIES Football Observatory's Weekly Post, published on 25/10/2021.

With a total of 42 players in the European Top 5 who have played at the club for at least three seasons between the ages of 15 and 21, the two Spanish clubs are ahead of Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 Uber Eats), 3^rd, which trained 32 players. These three clubs already formed the top three - with Barça in second place - during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.

Taking into account the number of active players among the top 31 divisions of UEFA member associations, AFC Ajax (Eredivisie) takes 1^st place with 81 players trained, followed by Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR, 75 players) and Sporting Clube de Portugal (Liga Portugal Bwin), Dinamo Zagreb (CRO) and Dynamo Kiev (UKR) (70 players each). Real Madrid are in 7^th place (62 players), FC Barcelona in 10^th (57 players).
