FC Schalke 04: all travel for away matches to be carbon neutral from the 2021-22 season

All travel by FC Schalke 04 (2.Bundesliga) for its away matches will be carbon neutral from the 2021-22 season, announced the club on 04/10/2021. To this end, Schalke 04 has partnered with Greenzero and Heimaterbe, two German companies specialising respectively in supporting businesses in their sustainable development and in implementing carbon offset programmes.

"Greenzero supports Schalke in accurately recording, assessing and understanding the environmental impact of away matches. At the beginning of the season, the preliminary travel plans were analysed with regard to the chosen means of transport and the expected environmental impact was calculated. The potential for optimisation has been identified and directly implemented in order to reach the venues as sustainably and resource-efficiently as possible," said the German club.
