2,698 flights arrived in Brazil from abroad in June and July 2014 for the World Cup (from 12/06 to 13/07/2014), an increase of 330 flights (or 14%) compared to the same period in 2013 (2,368 flights), the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism said on 29/07/2014.

The strongest growth came from elsewhere in South America, with an increase of 246 flights (up 20%) in June and July 2014 (for 1,472 flights), compared to the same period in 2013 (1,226 flights). The number of flights from North America increased by 8.7%, from 551 to 599 flights, or 48 additional flights, and the number of flights from Europe increased by 4.1%, from 487 to 507 flights, or 20 additional flights.

"The increase in the number of flights from neighbouring countries supports our strategy of investing tourist resources in [marketing to] neighbouring countries so that we can bring the levels of international tourists in Brazil to new levels," said Vicente Neto, president of the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism.
