Italy: apprenticeships with professional clubs, "a revolutionary act" for the FIGC

"This is a revolutionary act, which will generate positive effects in the economic sphere, but above all in the social field," said Gabriele Gravina, president of the FIGC, on 29/10/2021, regarding the introduction of apprenticeships in football in the Finance Bill adopted by the Italian Council of Ministers on Thursday 28/10/2021.

The text, that will be presented to both Parliamentary Chambers (Chamber of Deputies and Senate), introduces the possibility for professional clubs to offer apprenticeship contracts to beneficiaries up to the age of 23. "Once the measure has been passed, clubs will therefore be able to hire footballers with a reduced fiscal impact, provided they take care of their education and help them prepare their post-career project," said the FIGC.
