Stade Vélodrome: Agreement reached between city hall and Olympique de Marseille through 2016-17

The city of Marseille and Olympique de Marseille (Ligue 1) reached an agreement on 31/07/2014 for the use of the Stade Vélodrome (capacity 67,000) for three seasons, or through the end of the 2016-17 season.

The agreement includes a fixed fee of €3m for the 2014-15 season and €4m for 2015-16 and 2016-17. OM will have to pay an additional variable fee if its turnover on ticket sales exceeds €20m per season. The city of Marseille will take 20% of ticket revenues over €20m. OM got €25.5m ticketing revenue in 2010-11, the last season before the start of work on the Stade Vélodrome.

"In this agreement, we note that the total including the variable portion should lead to €7.4m per year, modelling on Olympique de Marseille's performance over the last eight years. This agreement covers three years, as a transition from the venue of yesterday to the venue of tomorrow," said Jean-Claude Gaudin, the mayor of Marseille.
