Argentina: Death of Julio Grondona, president of Argentine federation and vice-president of FIFA

Julio Humberto Grondona (ARG), president of the AFA (Argentine Football Association) since 1979, died at the age of 82 in Buenos Aires (ARG), following heart problems, on 30/07/2014.

Grondona has also held the position of vice-president of FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) since 1988.

He co-founded the Argentine club Arsenal de Sarandi on 11/01/1957 and served as its president from 1957 to 1976. The club's stadium, inaugurated in 1964, was named after him on 07/08/2004.
