Italy: DAZN considers canceling the possibility of having two user accounts per subscription

The OTT platform DAZN is considering cancelling the possibility of having two user accounts per subscription in Italy, according to Italian media on 09/11/2021. DAZN is reportedly planning this change for mid-December 2021 and the feature is no longer mentioned in the general subscription conditions.

"If DAZN really opts for a unilateral modification of the subscription conditions, we will launch protest initiatives all over Italy, and we will evaluate the possibility of a collective campaign to cancel subscriptions by fans, due to a breach by the company," said Carlo Rienzi, president of Codacons (Italian consumers association) to the Italian news agency Adnkronos, on 10/11/2021.

"Today we have presented the complaint to Agcom and the Antitrust (competition authorities) to request the opening of an investigation against DAZN to determine whether a discontinuation of multipurpose subscriptions could violate contractual rules and the Consumer Code, with a consequent violation of consumer rights," added Carlo Rienzi.
