Premier League: Martin Swain appointed director of communications of West Bromwich Albion

Martin Swain (UK) was appointed director of communications of West Bromwich Albion (Premier League), the club announced on 01/08/2014.

Martin Swain, 59, had previously served as the chief sports writer of the British newspaper Express & Star, which he joined in 1989. He was elected Midlands (England) sports journalist of the year in 2014, on 06/06/2014.

Martin Swain will be tasked to "improve the relationship between the supporters and the club", said the chairman of West Bromwich Albion, Jeremy Peace. West Brom finished 17th in the Premier League in 2013-14 (36 points), only three points ahead of the first club relegated to the Championship (English second division), Norwich City (33 points).
