NBA: Rakuten (e-commerce) extends as jersey sponsor of the Golden State Warriors (€17.4m/year)

Rakuten, a Japanese internet services group specialised in e-commerce, finance and digital content, has extended as jersey sponsor of the Golden State Warriors (NBA) from the 2021-22 season, announced Rakuten America (a subsidiary based in San Mateo, California) on 12/11/2021.

The multiple-season partnership, will include an annual allocation similar to the original 2017-2021 agreement (option activated for 2020-21), or $20m (€17.4m), according to reports from US media. The NBA has allowed franchises to display a sponsor on their left pocket sponsorship space from the 2017-18 season. Rakuten was the first jersey sponsor in the history of the Warriors, a franchise where two-time MVP Stephen Curry (USA), an ambassador of the brand since 2019, plays.

The most lucrative jersey sponsorship deal in the NBA is between the Brooklyn Nets and Webull (trading, New York, USA), a partnership valued at $30m per season (€25.8m).
