European Parliament: publication of motion for a resolution on the "European sports model"

"The European Parliament calls for a European sports model that recognises the need for a strong commitment to integrating the principles of solidarity, sustainability, inclusiveness for all, open competition, sporting merit and fairness, and accordingly strongly opposes breakaway competitions that undermine such principles and endanger the stability of the overall sports ecosystem; stresses that these principles should be encouraged by all sports stakeholders and national authorities," states the report on EU sports policy adopted on 26/10/2021 by the EU Committee on Culture and Education, which was published on 08/11/2021 (document available to download).

This motion for a resolution, which will be submitted to the vote of all MEPs (Members of the European Parliament) during the Parliament's plenary session scheduled for 22-25/11/2021 in Strasbourg (FRA), is notably a stance against the European Super League project presented by 12 major European clubs on 18/04/2021 (see "further reading" section).
