O. Lyonnais - O. Marseille: LFP disciplinary committee convenes urgent meeting on Monday 22/11/2021

"The LFP firmly condemns the violent attack on Dimitri Payet during the match between Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique de Marseille (at Groupama Stadium, Matchday 14 of the 2021-22 Ligue 1 Uber Eats). Following this cowardly attack, Dimitri Payet was also the target of insults of a discriminatory nature (...) The Marseille player was hit in the head by a full bottle of water thrown from the northern corner of the stadium as the midfielder was about to take a corner kick in the fourth minute of the match.

The match was stopped by referee Ruddy Buquet and both teams returned to the dressing room. After more than an hour's wait, the announcer at the Groupama Stadium announced that the game would be resumed. Olympique Lyonnais' players began warming up on the pitch, while the OM players did not. The match was then definitively stopped.
