Olympique Lyonnais: inauguration of a fresco and pitch of honour in tribute to Gérard Houllier

"This Saturday 20/11/2021, at the Groupama Stadium, Isabelle Houllier and Jean-Michel Aulas inaugurated, in strict intimacy, the Gérard Houllier fresco and pitch of honour," said Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 Uber Eats) the same day. The club is paying tribute to its former coach (from July 2005 to June 2007) and adviser (from 2016), who died on 14/12/2020.

"Gérard lived at the rhythm of Lyon and he was very happy about that. In fact I always knew that he loved football too much to accept leaving this world. Today, thanks to you and the talent of Graffmatt (the artist who created the fresco), Gérard can continue to watch over Lyon with a protective eye," said his wife Isabelle Houllier.

"Every day, every week, the champions of today and tomorrow will have the immense privilege of playing on the "Gérard Houllier Pitch of Honour" in a training centre (Groupama OL Training Centre) which carries his DNA and his memory," added Olympique Lyonnais.
