Tennis/2022 Australian Open: stadiums at full capacity, Covid-19 vaccinations compulsory for players

"The amazing vaccination effort that Victorians (state in Australia) have undertaken will mean that all of our stadiums, the Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court, John Cain, and the new show court will be full to capacity throughout the Australian Open. It will be an incredible demonstration to the world, that our city, our state, our nation, is back and buzzing and open for business," said Martin Pakula, Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events of the Parliament of Victoria, on 20/11/2021.

The Parliament of Victoria's Sports Minister was joined at a press conference by Craig Tiley, director of the Grand Slam tournament, who confirmed that players wishing to take part in the Australian tournament would have to be vaccinated against Covid-19. Another notable point, on the sporting side of this 2022 edition, which will take place from 17 to 30/01/2022 in Australia, "for the first time ever, the Australian Open women’s semi-finals will be held in prime-time during the night session on Thursday 27/01/2022."
