World Rugby: exclusive dialogue with England for the 2025 World Cup and with Australia for 2027

"The World Rugby Council has approved revisions to the Rugby World Cup host selection process, awarding exclusive Preferred Candidate status to England for Rugby World Cup 2025 and Australia for Rugby World Cup 2027 while confirming USA will enter into exclusive targeted dialogue for Rugby World Cup 2031 within a model that focuses on building meaningful partnerships between World Rugby and potential host countries," announced the body on 24/11/2021. The final hosting rights will be awarded by the Council in May 2022. Russia was also a candidate to host the 2027 World Cup.

"In a ground-breaking move, World Rugby will award hosting rights to its next two men's and women's Rugby World Cups (the 2025 and 2029 women's events and the 2027 and 2031 men's events) within the same process (in May 2022)," announced World Rugby on 13/08/2021.

France will host the 10^th edition of the Rugby World Cup in 2023 as announced by World Rugby in London (ENG) on 15/11/2017. The other two candidate countries were South Africa and Ireland.
