The American sports pay-TV bouquet ESPN has 76 million subscriber households in the United States, according to estimates from the Nielsen Institute published in The Walt Disney Company's 2021 annual report on 24/11/2021. The fiscal year of ESPN's parent company ended on 03/10/2021.

This is down 10% compared to last year as ESPN had 84 million subscriber households at the end of fiscal year 2020 according to Nielsen data. ESPN had posted a record 100 million subscriber households in 2011. The pay-TV bouquet has thus lost 24% of its subscribers in the space of 10 years.

This decline is partially offset by new subscribers to the ESPN+ streaming offer launched in April 2018. ESPN+ had 17.1 million subscribers in October 2021 (versus 10.3 million in October 2020). However, revenue per subscriber is not the same, since it is around $10 (€8.90) for the pay-TV package compared to $4.74 (€4.20) for the OTT platform.
